Optimizing Performance
By default, Sweet Dreams is visually enhanced using a variety of graphic techniques which while fun to look at, do not directly effect gameplay. For slower machines - particularly those with older video cards, cards with little video memory, most mobile or motherboard-based budget video chips (such as SiS or Intel) - the more intesive graphic effects can be toned down or removed to increase frame rates and game responsiveness. To do this, run the game and click the 'Options' button on the main menu and select the 'Slow Computer' option. This will take full effect the next time you begin a game.
Game display resolution also impacts performance. By lowering the resolution of the game (not of the operating system itself) using the 'Options' menu in-game, you can moderately increase performance.
Graphics Issues
Sweet Dreams uses OpenGL by default for displaying its graphics. If there are visual problems with the game, it is highly recommended that the latest certified drivers for the video hardware be installed, and that the drivers support OpenGL. See 'Upgrade Drivers' under the general FAQ's Improving Performance section for direction on updating video drivers.
Sound Issues
The OpenAL sound library is used by Sweet Dreams for all audio and should work without problem with all audio hardware. If the audio is non-existant or is too loud/soft even after adjusting the in-game audio sliders (found in the 'Options' menu) updating to the latest audio drivers for your hardware will typically solve the problem. Check with your computer's manufacturer for the proper drivers to use.
